Jessie James was born about 1832. She married Thomas Beveridge, a tailor, on 23 March 1866 in Knox Church, Dunedin.
They had five children, one who died in infancy. When she signed the suffrage petition Jessie was living in Canongate St. Thomas had died in 1892.
Jessie died on 13 August 1895. She is buried with Thomas in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
