Jane Dalrymple Henderson was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Stewart Henderson, a carpenter and contractor, and Mary.
Her mother died shortly after her birth and her father re-married in 1874. (See 359 A Henderson)
When Jane signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Tweed St, Invercargill working as a dressmaker.
Jane married Archibald Mouncey Irving, a labourer, in 1894 and they had seven children.
The family lived at Woodlands in Southland and eventually farmed at 'Roslyn Ridge'.
Jane died in Invercargill on 17 December 1940 and Archibald died in 1946, they are buried together in the Woodlands Cemetery.
