Jane Malcolm Forsyth was born in 1868 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Forsyth and Agnes McMillan.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition she was living in Andersons Bay, Dunedin.
She married Frederick Fulton Valpy, a miner, on 27 December 1900 at the Glenorchy Mission Hall and they had three children.
They lived in Glenorchy, Hyde and Outram before moving to Andersons Bay where they had a farm.
Jane died on 9 November 1953 and Frederick died in 1963 – they are buried together in the Green Island Cemetery.
