Jane Frances Rooney was born about 1842, in County Leithrim, Ireland.
She married carter, Martin Kennedy in New Zealand in 1869 and they had six children, one who died in infancy.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Greymouth.
Martin died in 1904 and Jane died at her home on 10 May 1909 – they are buried together in the Karoro Cemetery.
