Jessie McHutcheson was born about 1845 in Argyllshire, Scotland – the daughter of William McHutcheson, an excise officer, and Isabella Phillips. (See 301 Isabella McHutcheson)
She emigrated to Christchurch with her family in 1862 and she married Henry Killner, a carpenter, in 1874.
They had four children and when Jessie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Linwood, Christchurch.
Henry died in 1916 and Jessie died on 13 March 1921, they are buried together in the Linwood Cemetery.
