This is very likely the signature of Janet Lydia Harrington, born Davidson, in Wellington in 1854. In 1873 she married Henry Harrington in Christchurch. He was a telegraph officer, and his job led them to move several times to different parts of the country. By 1893, they were living on Selwyn Road in Napier with their two teenaged daughters, Ethel and Mildred.
By 1905 Janet and Henry had moved to Wellington, where they lived near the top of Hawker St, and after Henry retired, in Kelburn and Thorndon.
