Jessie Marion Masters was born in 1871 in the Nevis Valley in Central Otago – the daughter of William Williams Masters, a miner, and Barbara Wishart.
Jessie spent her childhood in the Nevis Valley and nearby Clyde.
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living in George St, Dunedin working as a shop assistant.
Jessie married Charles Andrew Manson, a miner, in August 1912 at her parent’s home at Nevis, they honeymooned in Wanaka.
Jessie & Charles had three children and lived in Bannockburn, Cromwell and Alexandra before retiring to Dunedin.
Jessie died on 23 January 1945 and Charles died in 1957, they are buried together in the Port Chalmers Cemetery.
