Jeanie Forsyth was born in 1850 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Forsyth and Elizabeth Craig.
On 21 November 1882, at her brother’s house at Hawthorndale, Kaikorai, Jeanie married Alexander Stronach Paterson. They had four children.
Alexander was a successful importer and exporter, and a generous benefactor to the local church – even gifting an organ to the Dunedin Town Hall.
Jeanie died at Alva St, Dunedin on 17 February 1936 and Alexander died in 1940. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
