Jane Martin was born around 1847, and in 1870, when she was 23, she married Edwin Perrett. The couple lived most of their married life in Whanganui after spending time in the gold fields of Australia and the West Coast of New Zealand. Edwin was a prominent business man and a Borough Councillor.
Jane had seven sons and three daughters, three of whom were born in New Zealand between 1874 and 1885.
Jane died on 24 July 1927, aged 80.
