Jane Hamilton Barnett was born in 1869 in Lawrence, Central Otago – the daughter of Thomas Barnett, a plumber and tinsmith and Ann Anderson Hamilton. (See 147 Mrs Barnett)
After her father’s death in 1890 the family moved to Dunedin and when Jane signed the suffrage petition they were living in Stafford St and she was working as a saleswoman.
Jane married William Copeland McCallum, a cabinetmaker, on 13 September 1900 at the South Dunedin Presbyterian Church, they had no children.
Jane and William celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1950.
Jane died on 27 July 1953 and William died the following year. They were both cremated and their ashes scattered.
