She married Albert Cross, an inspector of public works, on 18 March 1874 in Dunedin and they had two daughters.

When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Mornington, Dunedin.

She was cremated and her ashes buried with Albert in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
