Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Jane Dennis was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Dennis, a farmer, and Mary Ellis.
When she signed the suffrage petition Jane was living in Waikaia, South Otago.
She married George Moffitt, a labourer, on 16 April 1894 in Waikaia.
The following month on 23 May their twin sons were born.
Jane died three days later and their sons also died, aged five days and 12 days. They are presumable buried in the Waikaia Cemetery although they are not shown in the records.
George re-married in 1902 and he died in 1931. He is buried in the Green Island Cemetery, Dunedin with his second wife.
