Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Jane Crombie Flockhart was born about 1848 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of James Flockhart, a joiner, and Euphemia Boyd.
Her parents both died in 1854 and Jane married George Dunn, also a joiner, on 7 June 1867 in Edinburgh.
They had four sons, one who died in infancy, before they emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Aldergrove.
They settled in Dunedin and had a further nine children.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Paterson St, Mornington in Dunedin.
Jane died on 13 April 1926 and George died in 1929 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
