Jane Smith was born about 1851 in Kent, England.
She married John Erasmuson, a widower and carpenter, on 24 December 1879 in the Invercargill Parish.
They had nine children, one who died in infancy, and when Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Bluff.
Jane died in Invercargill on 11 May 1928 and John died in 1935, they are buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
