Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jane Thompson was born about 1850 in Scotland.

She came to New Zealand in the early 1860s and she married Peter Finlayson, a railway ganger, on 26 September 1871 in Dunedin.

They had eight children and when Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Clinton in South Otago.

Peter was transferred to Port Chalmers in 1903.

Jane died at their home in South Dunedin on 9 April 1913 and Peter died in 1926, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
