Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Janet/Janet Hollowell was born about 1851 in Scotland.
She married John Lambert on 7 November 1871 in Strathmartine, Angus and they had three daughters, one who died in infancy.
What happened to John is unclear but, in 1876 Jane, accompanied by her twins Jane and Christina, emigrated for Otago on the Oamaru.
Jane married Robert Graham, a widower with three children and a dairyman, in 1885.
They had seven daughters, four who were born before their marriage.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Brunswick St, South Dunedin.
Robert died in 1901 - he is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
Jane continued to live in Brunswick after Robert’s death – in 1903 she advertised the loss of a pink and grey parrot from her home and in 1906 'two large unfurnished front rooms to let' in Brunswick St.
Jane died on 3 July 1942 at Fox St, South Dunedin, she is buried with one of her daughters in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
