By the time she signed the suffrage petition in 1893, she and Alex were living in the suburb of Mt Victoria, Wellington, with their one-year-old son James. A daughter, Alice, was born that year. Two more children, Margaret and Alexander, came later. Jane moved with her family to Salamanca Road in Kelburn, Wellington, where she died in 1905, aged 39.
