Jane Moore Holmes was born about 1849 – the daughter of William Holmes, the Gobbins Island, Magee, County Antrim, Ireland.
She came to New Zealand where she married James Murray Davidson, a widower and Presbyterian minister on 16 March 1887 at Chatton in Southland.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition they were living in Mataura.
About 1900 James retired and they moved to live in Gore.
James died in 1913 and Jane died in Invercargill on 18 July 1927 – they are buried together in the Mataura Cemetery.
