Jane Porter Wilson was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Vessie Wilson, a storekeeper, and Jane Porter Brown. (See 341 Jane Wilson)
She married Robert Fleetwood Dawson, a commercial traveller, on 5 October 1892 at the Bluff Church.
They had five children and when Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Bluff.
Robert died in 1923 and Jane died on 3 September 1953, they are buried in the family grave in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
