She emigrated to Otago and married James Peddie, a draper, on 31 December 1866 in Dunedin.

They had two children and lived in Cumberland St, Dunedin where Jane signed the suffrage petition and James worked as a gardener.

They moved to Wellington in the 1910s to live with their married daughter Annie Dutch.

James died in 1913 and Jane died on 30 August 1920, they are buried together in the Karori Cemetery.
