Jane Ross McKenzie was born about 1844 in Rosshire, Scotland.
She married John Shearer Ritchie, a railway labourer, in New Zealand in 1889. When she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston.
Jane died at her home on June 14th 1920 and John died at Dunedin in 1934. They are buried in the Palmerston Cemetery.
