Jane Roy was born in 1871 in New Zealand — the daughter of James Roy, a ploughman, and Margaret Bagrie. (See 110 Maggie Roy)

When she signed the suffrage petition Jane was living on the family farm at Wairuna in South Otago, she did not marry.

Jane was active in the Clinton branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, holding the position of treasurer. She also wrote letters to the newspaper on the prohibition issue in the 1920s.

Jane died in Dunedin on 25 February 1947, she is buried in the Clinton Cemetery.
