Jane Wallace was born about 1849 in Kirknewton, Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand where she married William Wallace, a book keeper, in 1869.
They had, at least, eight children and when Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Serpentine Avenue, Dunedin.
William died in 1924 and Jane died at her home on 11 July 1926 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
