Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Janet Mason Weatherston was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of David Weatherston, a labourer, and Catherine Hall.

When Janet signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Alexandra St, Caversham, Dunedin.

She married Wallace Forsyth, a sawmiller, in 1894 and they had four children.

The family moved around the country a lot, ending in their lives in Gisborne.

Wallace died in July 1930 and Janet died on 4 October the same year, they are buried together in the Taruheru Cemetery, Gisborne.
