Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jeanie/Jessie Fairbairn Ross was born about 1838 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of Daniel Ross.

She came to Otago where she married engineer, James Mann, on 30 March 1880 at her sister’s home in Dunedin.

They do not appear to have had any children and when Jeanie signed the suffrage petition, they were living in London St, Dunedin.

James died in Wellington in 1915, and Jeanie died at her home in Dunedin on 20 October 1920 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
