Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jane/Jeannie Murray was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Murray, a dancing teacher, and Isabella Kyle.

She married John Hood, a miller, on 25 January 1893 at Knox Church, Dunedin – they had one son.

When Jeannie signed the suffrage petition they were  living in Forbury Road, Caversham.

John died in 1937 and Jeannie died at her home on 8 July 1964 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
