Jemima was born in 1844 near Edinburgh, the daughter of Donald Stewart. In 1860 the family immigrated on the Robert Henderson and settled at Maori Hill, Dunedin.
Jemima married William Lang in 1861 and they had John (1862-1898) and William (1864-1880).
Widowed in 1864, Jemima married Captain Thomas Randall in 1866 but he died of a seizure later the same day. A daughter of this marriage, Jemima Fanny, was born in 1867.
In 1870 Jemima married Thomas Carrodus. They settled in Brockville, Kaikoirai and had Henrietta (1871-1884), Thomas (1872-), Lucy (1873-), James (1875-), Margaret (1877-), Isabella (1879-1879), Isabella (1880-) and Daisy (1883-).
Jemima died in 1906, aged 62.
