Jessie Blain Robertson was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander Todd Robertson and Martha Sarah Goff.
When Jessie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her parents in Grosvenor St, Kensingon, Dunedin working as a machinist.
She married Ernest William Bruce, a plasterer, on 9 November 1906 and they had two sons.
Ernest died in 1945 and Jessie died on 28 April 1947 – they were both cremated and their ashes were scattered.
