She emigrated to New Zealand and she married Charles Thomas Brett in 1880.
They had four children and when Jessimine signed the suffrage petition they were living in Hampden in North Otago.
Charles died in 1906 when a hut he was staying in caught fire after which Jessimine went to live with her daughter in Ranfurly.
She died there on 4 August 1934 and is buried with Charles in the family grave in the Hampden Cemetery.
