Jessie/Janet Robertson was born in 1857, probably in Scotland - the daughter of Thomas Robertson and Margaret Lindsay Stuart.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1860 on the “Silistria”and they settled on the Otago Peninsula.
Jessie married Joseph Corbett, an upholsterer, on 20 July 1883 and they had two children.
When Jessie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Taieri Road, Roslyn.
Jessie died on 25 November 1940 and Joseph died in 1945 – they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
