Jessie Napier Dempster was born in 1867 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Dempster, a builder, and Christina Napier. (See 148 Christina Dempster)
When Jessie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Clyde St, Dunedin.
She married John Main, a draper, on 8 April 1903 at her parents’ home in St David Street.
They had three children, one who died in infancy.
John died at their home in Auckland in 1948 and Jessie died in September 1958.
They were both cremated and their ashes are interred in the Dempster family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
