Jessie Dunn was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of David Dunn, a farmer, and Flora McIntyre Mercer.

When Jessie signed the suffrage petition she was living in Puerua in South Otago.

She married Henry/Harry Francis Kitto, a miner, in 1900 – they had no children and lived at Millers Flat where in later life they had an orchard.

Harry died in 1941 and Jessie died on 23 March 1953 in Dunedin, they are buried together in the Millers Flat Cemetery.
