Jessie Shedden Ferguson was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Clark Ferguson, a farmer, and Elizabeth Pringle. (See 143 Elizabeth Ferguson)
When Jessie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at St Leonards Farm, Seal Point Road near Sandymount on the Otago Peninsula.
She married James Alexander Scott, the director of the Milton Co-Operative Dairy Factory, on 18 December 1902 in Dunedin and they had three children.
The family lived in Milton in South Otago where James died in 1941. Jessie died on 26 July 1942 in Dunedin, she is buried with James in the Fairfax-Milton Cemetery.
