Janet/Jessie Carmichael was born about 1830 and she arrived in New Zealand about 1862.
She married Andrew Goodlet, a carpenter in 1864 and they had nine children.
The family lived in Green Island, Mornington and Leith Valley in Dunedin before spending a couple of years in the mining area of Waipori.
They moved back to Dunedin about 1892 settling in Kirkland Hill, Kaikorai where Jessie signed the suffrage petition.
Andrew died at his home in 1895 and Jessie died on 19 August 1912. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
