Jessie Henrietta McLandress was born in New Zealand in 1864 – the daughter of John McLandress, a boot merchant, and Isabella Taylor.
The family lived in Duncan St, Dunedin and when Jessie signed the suffrage petition she was working as a music teacher.
Jessie died in Wellington on 25 August 1908, she is buried in the Karori Cemetery, Wellington.
