The family sailed for Otago in March 1860 on the Gil Blas and settled in Dunedin.

Jessie married Frank Larking, a book binder, on 10 November 1873 in Dunedin and they had five children.

When Jessie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.

Frank died at their home in 1921 and Jessie died on 14 March 1926, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
