Jessie Margaret Simpson was born in Ross, Westland in 1867, the daughter of James Simpson, clerk, and Jane Phillips Edmonds.
Jessie’s family moved to Dunedin about 1877. When she signed the suffrage petition, Jessie was living with her family in Filleul St. Her mother Jane also signed the petition.
She died on 23 May 1949 and is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery with some of her siblings.
