Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Janet Peterson was born about 1836 Glasgow, Lanarkshire – the daughter of Peter Peterson and Mary Smith.

Her family emigrated to Otago in 1849 on the Mooltan and settled in Dunedin.

Jessie did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Clyde St, Mornington (possibly with her sister Florence & her family).

She died on 16 July 1913 and is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
