Jessie Templeton was born in 1853 in Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of Robert Templeton and Jeannie Wilson.
She came to New Zealand with her family and she married James Young, a carpenter, in 1873.
They had 11 children, and when Jessie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston.
Jessie died on July 26th 1910 and James died in 1917 in the Dunedin Hospital.
They are buried in the Palmerston Cemetery.
