Johanne Jensine was born in Denmark about 1849, she was married to Halvor Matheus Meinung.
They had a son in 1874 and the same year Halvor emigrated to New Zealand on the Winchester.
Johanne and their son joined him in 1875 arriving in Wellington on the Herschel.
They had a further five children and when Johanne signed the suffrage petition the family were living in George St, Dunedin and Halvor was working as a fishmonger.
He died in 1921 and Johanne died on 27 December 1923, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
