Kate/Katherine Drennan was born about 1850 in Ireland.
She married Michael Healy about 1880 and soon after they emigrated to New Zealand.
They had three daughters and lived at first at Nelson Creek where Michael mined for gold.
After this they moved to Ngahere where they had a farm.
Kate signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth.
In 1902 their daughter Mary entered a convent and in 1908 their eldest daughter Annie died.
Their last daughter Kate also entered a convent in 1912.
Michael died in Westport in 1923 and Kate died on 4 September 1936, also in Westport. She is buried with Michael in the Orowaiti Cemetery.
