Notes: Biographical information provided by David Stevens, great grandnephew of Katie.
Kate Alberta Worsdell (known as Katie) was born on 28 April 1863 in Bermondsey, Surrey, England a daughter of George and Fanny (nee Simpkins).
Lottie arrived in Otago on the sailing ship Wild Deer on 20 January 1875 with her mother Fanny Worsdell and six siblings Agnes, Bess, Anne, Fanny, Edward and Lottie. They were joining her father George who had arrived in Dunedin in 1874.
She attended Miss McLauchlin’s School (Dunedin) and from 6 March 1876 North East Valley School.
Katie never married. She was a dressmaker and music teacher.
At various times Katie lived in North East Valley, Oamaru, Wanganui, Marton, Christchurch and Blenheim. When she signed the Petition she would have been staying with her sister Fanny and family in Marton.
Katie died in the Wairau Hospital, Blenheim on 28 May 1947, aged 84. She is buried in Omaka Cemetery.
