Katherine Elizabeth Mullin was born on 8 July 1866 in Rathmines, Co Dublin, Ireland – the daughter of John William Mullin, a doctor, and Deborah Shackleton.
Her mother died soon after the birth of Katherine and her twin brother William.
In 1883 she emigrated to New Zealand with her father and three siblings as second saloon passengers on the Ionic and the family settled in Dunedin.
Kate did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her father and sister Margaret in George St. (See 53 Margaret Mullin)
She was mentioned in the newspaper in 1895, her St Bernard dog Wolf won a prize in the annual show of the 'Dunedin Fanciers’ Club'.
Kate died on 7 September 1946, she was cremated and her ashes scattered.
