Catherine/Katie Kane was born about 1864.
When she married Alexander George Sutherland on 6 May 1884 at St Paul’s Church, Oamaru she was living in Duntroon.
The family lived at Ngapara, where Catherine signed the suffrage petition, and Alexander worked as a butcher.
They had eight children, one who died in infancy.
Alexander died at Ngapara in 1935 and Catherine died on 6 June 1938, they are buried together in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
