Louisa Lissamer was born about 1845 in Warwickshire, England, the daughter of Thomas Lissamer and Sarah.

She married Thomas Beasley on August 8th 1871 in the parish church in Rugby. They had two sons before they emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the James Nicol Fleming.

They had a further seven children after their arrival, two who died in infancy and childhood. They lived in Waikouaiti where Thomas died in 1889.

When Louisa signed the suffrage petition she was still in Waikouaiti. She died on August 10th 1917 at her son’s home in Waitati.

She is buried with Thomas in the family grave in the St John’s Anglican Cemetery, Waikouaiti.
