Lizzie Augusta Hayward was born in London in 1867 – the daughter of John Hayward, a jeweller’s assistant, and Eliza Emma Parsons. (See 94 Eliza Hayward)

She emigrated to Otago with her family about 1877 and they settled in Dunedin.

Lizzie married Charles McIntosh Grant, a druggist’s assistant, in 1891 and they had four children.

When Lizzie signed the suffrage petition she was living near her parents in Kirkland Hill, Kaikorai.

She died at her home in Maori Hill, Dunedin on 29 February 1924 and Charles died in 1931, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
