Laura Edith Graham was born about 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Charles Graham (also known as Charles Brown), a coachbuilder, and Margaret Haig. (See 118 Maggie Graham)
She grew up in Milton in South Otago where she signed the suffrage petition.
Laura married George Barclay, a station master, at her father’s home in Dunedin on 18 February 1903.
They had no children and lived in Palmerston, north of Dunedin, until 1907 when George was transferred to Auckland.
They were both very active in the St Johns Ambulance Assn. and George served in the Army in WW1, attaining the rank of Colonel.
They retired to Dunedin where George died in 1943 - Laura died on 11 June 1953, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
