Dagmar Frederika Elizabeth Siversten, known as Lena, was born about 1867 in Denmark.

She came to New Zealand in the 1870’s & she married John Henry Tonkin, an electrician, in Dunedin on May 28th 1892.

When Lena signed the suffrage petition they were living in St Andrew Street & she was working as a dressmaker.

They had 2 sons, one who died in WW1 & the other died in 1927.

John died in 1944 & Lena died on April 4th 1951, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
