Mary Lilla Hay-MacKenzie was born about 1870 – the daughter of Tertius Hay-MacKenzie, a stationmaster, and Margaret Mackenzie. (See 341 M Hay-MacKenzie)
When Lilla signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Bluff.
The family moved to Westport in 1897 – after her father’s death in 1906 she moved to Wellington with her mother.
Lilla died in Hawera on 9 March 1948, she is buried in the Hawera General Presbyterian Cemetery.
