Agnes Inglis Paterson was born on September 21st 1854 in Lochlee, Angus, Scotland, the daughter of Charles Paterson, a farmer, and Elizabeth Laing.
Agnes had a daughter in 1878 and she married Thomas Lindsay, a shepherd, the following year.
They had 2 more children before they emigrated to Otago in the early 1880s.
They settled in North Otago and had a further 5 children. When Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston.
Thomas died at their home in 1927 and Agnes died at their daughter’s home in Port Chalmers on August 27th 1942. They are buried together in the Palmerston Cemetery.
